Rupee down 3 paise vs dollar

Rupee had gained 9 paise to close at 52.07/08 against the dollar in the previous session on Friday.

The rupee marginally down by 3 paise to Rs 52.10 per dollar on the Interbank Foreign Exchange in early trade today on increased demand from importers for the American currency.

Traders said besides increased demand for the US currency from importers,dollar8217;s gains against the euro overseas put pressure on the local currency but a higher opening in equity market capped losses.

Meanwhile,the BSE benchmark Sensex rose 36.99 points,or 0.21 per cent,at 17,410.83 in early trade.

The rupee had gained 9 paise to close at 52.07/08 against the dollar in the previous session on Friday.
