The External Affairs Ministrys overenthusiasm at issuing a statement a day against Australia is starting to have more serious consequences. Australia has been pushing for closer cooperation on defence as part of its larger strategic objective but India has turned down an invitation to participate in Exercise Kakadu that Australia will be hosting in May. This has taken many experts by surprise because Australia has sent a vessel for Exercise Milan being carried out off the Andaman coast.
