Alleging blatant violation of norms in finalising its report, senior BJP leader and a member of the JPC on 2G spectrum allocation scam,Yashwant Sinha, has requested Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar to reject the report of the panel submitted by JPC chairman P C Chacko in its current form, without original version of dissent notes sent by the Opposition. His request comes in the backdrop of reports suggesting Chacko had edited the dissent notes submitted by Opposition members in the final report of the JPC which has been forwarded to the Lok Sabha Speaker. Though the BJP members had submitted their dissent note to the JPC chairman and made it public early last month,Chacko was learnt to have edited their dissent notes while appending them in his final report for the Parliament. We apprehended that the chairman might edit and mutilate our note of dissent, Sinha said, adding that the Oppositions worst fears had come true as it has been confirmed that the chairman of JPC,P C Chacko, has blatantly violated all the rules and norms in finalising this report, submitting it to you, printing it and circulating it and deleting portions from our note of dissent. In this backdrop,Sinha has requested Lok Sabha Speaker to reject the report submitted by the JPC chairman. My request to you, therefore,is to reject the report even at this late stage in order to ensure that no permanent damage is done to the institution of JPC,the Parliament itself and to the parliamentary system of democracy in our country, Yashwant Sinha has said in a letter to Meira Kumar. He also argued that there was nothing unparliamentary, irrelevant or otherwise inappropriate in their dissent notes and consequently asserted that the chairman, therefore, had no right to expunge the portions of our dissent note which he has expunged.
