Expressing concern over communal clashes in Kishtwar town of Jammu and Kashmir,BJP president Rajnath Singh spoke to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh while the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj engaged Jamp;K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over Twitter.
Had a telephonic conversation with PM Dr Manmohan Singh regarding outbreak of violent clashes in Kishtwar district of Jammu region, Singh tweeted. The PM assured me that the situation would be quickly brought under control as the army has been called out in Kishtwar, he added.
Swaraj,on the other hand,appealed the CM over Twitter. I have checked up from Kishtwar. Many injured. Houses and shops burnt. Pl do something immediately abdullah_om-ar, she tweeted.
Injuries amp; damage has taken place on both sides. Situation is being rapidly brought under control. Adequate forces sent, the CM wrote and sought her cooperation in ensuring the clamour for political benefit does not flare up the situation.
Swarajs appeal for swift response attracted a terse response from the CM who sought to tell her that she could verify his promptness in deploying forces. Swaraj rejected the suggestion saying she would not bypass the political executive. Subsequently,the CM rang up Swaraj to provide her an update.
Later,BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi appeared dissatisfied about governments claim of having brought the situation under control. Our information is that the situation is still not fully under control. The PM has assured our party president that all steps will be taken to prevent this communal situation from flaring up, Trivedi said.
