On a day AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi kickstarted his Mission Bihar by invoking youth power and calling Nitish Kumar and his predecessor Lalu Prasad tired leaders unfit to rule Bihar,the Congress on Saturday credited him for the Uttar Pradesh governments turnaround on the compensation package for farmers whose land is acquired.
You have been trapped for 20 years under the rule of tired people Lalu and Nitish. It is time to make a government of the youth, Rahul said at Saharsa.
He questioned Bihar CM Nitish Kumars secular credentials by wondering how Kumar was pretending to stay away from Gujarat CM Narendra Modi now when he had not taken tough stand on the Gujarat riots as Union Railway Minister .
Rahul declared that the Congress would contest the Assembly election alone. We will fight on our strength. It may take some time but we will definitely take your voice to Patna, he added. While pointing out that the Congress gave the country the Sachar Committee on minority welfare,he attacked MNS chief Raj Thackeray for driving out people from other states.
In New Delhi,the Congress credited Rahul for the major climbdown by the Mayawati government on the compensation package for farmers. We welcome the the UP governments decision to give a package similar to that of Haryana which Rahul Gandhi had demanded in a memorandum to the PM, AICC general secretary,UP Digvijay Singh said.
