About 1,000 Opposition supporters rallied on Saturday in the Russian capital to protest the Governments economic course and its response to the global financial crisis.

Police in Moscow detained dozens of Opposition activists, including the leader of banned Right-wing radical National Bolshevik party Eduard Limonov,as ruling and parliamentary opposition parties staged countrywide rallies in Russia.

At the rally of his supporters, the Communist leader Gennady Zyuganov lashed out at the Governments anti-crisis programme mostly directed at preserving the financial and banking sector and called for nationalising the countrys revenue earning mineral raw materials including oil and gas.

Russia has worlds 30 per cent mineral wealth and can survive on its own. The Government should stop looking at the East and West,we must have our own path, Zyuganov told his supporters at the Triumfalnaya Square in down-town Moscow.

The People,Medvedev,Putin together we will win! With this slogan the ruling United Russia party also took out thousands of its followers in various Russian cities and towns on Saturday in support of President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putins anti-crisis policies.
