Having taken over as the new Uttarakhand Chief Minister on Saturday,Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank arrived in New Delhi on Monday to consult senior BJP leaders L K Advani and Rajnath Singh about Cabinet expansion.
Matbar Singh Kandari,Bishen Singh Chauphal and Madan Kaushik have already been administered oaths as Cabinet Ministers along with Nishank. The remaining members of the team are yet to be finalised.
Sources said Nishanks prime concern would be to give due representation to different regions of the state. He demonstrated as much on Saturday when he chose Kandari,Chauphal and Kaushik who represent the Garhwal,Kumaon and Terai regions respectively.
The second challenge before him would be to strike a balance between the groups led by B C Khanduri and archrival Bhagat Singh Koshiyari.
The third task before him would be to accord due representation to the two dominant castes in the hill state the Brahmins and the Thakurs.
Nishank will also have to take care that all the 13 districts are represented in the Cabinet.
The CM is expected to return by Tuesday evening.
