PIL seeks CBI probe

A petition seeking a CBI inquiry into the July 13 blasts that killed 19 was filed in the Bombay High Court.

A petition seeking a CBI inquiry into the July 13 blasts that killed 19 was filed in the Bombay High Court on Monday. It is an attack on the Government of India,it is not a local crime and, therefore, the investigation in the matter is required to be done by the CBI, the PIL filed by lawyer V P Patil states.

Stating that the 13/7 attacks had targeted the GoI,the PIL states that an investigation by the local police would be unconstitutional. Patil has also sought a probe into the custodial death of Faiz Usmani, brother of an alleged Indian Mujaheedin man, suspected to have played a role in the blasts. The PIL is likely to be heard by a division bench next week.
