Tasveers seventh season will feature solo shows by some of the worlds best known photographers and two large-scale group shows A collection of photographs by British photographer Derry Moore,titled Evening Ragas,went on display at Tasveers gallery in Ahmedabad last month,signalling the beginning of the organisations seventh season of exhibitions. More than 60 limited edition prints by Moore,which form a part of his ongoing collection of works from various visits to India the first documented visit being in 1976 will now be exhibited at the various Tasveer galleries in Kolkata,Mumbai,Delhi and Bangalore. Moores works will be showcased in the Capital in February 2013. An organisation dedicated to photography,Tasveer held its inaugural show in 2006 and has,ever since,hosted more than 100 exhibitions across the country. Last season saw a number of memorable shows by Norman Parkinson,Nicholas Vreeland and a group show of contemporary Chinese photography. This this season promises to be great as well. As part of our forthcoming season,were exhibiting new and exciting photographers from around the world as well as promoting new projects by those weve worked with in the past, says Abhishek Poddar,proprietor of Tasveer. Creative excellence is the only criteria for selection, he adds. Besides Moore,other artists who will be featured in the coming season include Patrizia Maimouna Guerresi who is widely considered to be one of the leading woman European photographers today,and the hugely celebrated Indian photographer,Raghu Rai. Titled Inner Space and comprising photographs inspired by India,this will be Guerresis first exhibition in India. Rais show will go on display in Delhi in September this year and comprise photographs from his collection taken on the streets and other public places. In addition to these solo shows,the season will also see two large-scale group shows. Hikari: Contemporary Photography from Japan comes after the success of last seasons show Chinese Photography Now,and explores the use of light (the Japanese word for which is hikari) in photography. The second,Magnum Ke Tasveer,is the result of a collaboration between Tasveer and Magnum a photographic cooperative co-founded by Henri Cartier-Bresson in 1947 that has some of the worlds best-known photographers as its members. Hikari: Contemporary Photography from Japan will be on display in Delhi next month,while Magum Ke Tasveer will be put up in Delhi in September.
