Oz shares drop 2.2 pct

Aside from Greek woes,the countrys stock markets were all worked up about the local mining tax regime.

Australian shares fell 2.2 percent to a near three-month low on Thursday,hit by Greek contagion fears and concerns over the Australian government8217;s proposal for a new mining tax.

The benchmark Samp;P/ASX 200 index lost 11.8 points to finish at 4,573.2,extending losses for the week to almost 5 percent.

New Zealand8217;s benchmark NZX 50 index fell 1 percent to 3,217.9.
