One person was injured in a blast at the Calcutta National Medical College at Gora Chand Road today.
The incident happened around 8.45 am near the medicine ward on the Ram Mohan block of the hospital. Amit,a sweeper at the hospital,said he saw a polythene packet and picked it,when it exploded. Amits eyes and head were hurt.

Four fire engines were rushed to the spot. Officials of the bomb squad later said no trace of explosives was found and that the blast could be due to a chemical reaction.
Minister of state for health said it could be a case of sabotage and added that there would be an inquiry into the incident.
