Almost four months after her alleged rape during the Kandhamal riots on August 25,the 29 year old nun who worked as an administrator at Divyajyoti Pastoral Centre at Kanjamendi village,identified the two main accused

on Monday.

Escorted by a few crime branch sleuths and three other women,the nun arrived at the Choudwar Central Jail in Cuttack district on Monday afternoon for the test identification parade(TIP). She was allegedly raped in Kanjamendi village of Kandhamals K Nuagaon block during the

Orissa bandh.

Though 10 persons were arrested in connection with the case,80 other inmates of the jail were also paraded before the nun for the test identification parade which lasted for about one and a half hours. Sub-divisional judicial magistrate of Cuttack sadar P K Das was also present at the jail for

the TIP, which was postponed for Monday after the nun failed to appear on Saturday. The nun first spotted four persons from among a crowd of 10 arrested men and finally zeroed in on 2 of them who we believe to be main accused, a senior CID official said.

Fr Thomas Chellan,a priest at the Divyajyoti Pastoral Training Centre and colleague of the nun,however,could not identify any of the accused. Chellan,who was allegedly assaulted by the mob had lodged two different FIRs.
