To catch impersonators in the pre-medical test,Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board PEB has come out with what appears to be a fool-proof system. A biometric card reader will ring an alarm if the fingerprints and photographs of the candidates who appear for the test dont match with those who turn up for counseling.
Alarmed by the ease with which cases of impersonation have taken place during the last couple of years, the PEB was forced to search frantically for a solution, more so because the board itself was under the scanner.
The new system will be introduced on July 24 when 26,000 candidates appear for the examination.
The fingerprints and photos will be taken in the exam hall and also when successful candidates arrive for counseling. Controller of Examination Pankaj Trivedi said alarms will go off if the inputs dont match. The board has hired a private company for the project, that will engage about 200 machines.
