Modi is Ram for Hindus,Rahim for Muslims and Jesus for Christians. These words were uttered by the District Collector of Dangs,Girish Shah,in praise of Gujarat Chief Minister Modi,while addressing the people during a Garib Kalyan Mela organised in Ahwa taluka of Dang district on Friday.
Narendra Modi is touring all 26 districts of the state with the Garib Kalyan Mela,disbursing aid to people struggling with poverty. The Chief Minister visited the Ahwa taluka in Dangs district on Friday and disbursed monetary aid worth Rs 51 crore to over 30,000 beneficiaries. The programme was organised at the Police Parade Ground.
Earlier in 2008,D G Jhalwadia,then District Collector of Amreli,had triggered a controversy by touching Modis feet at a state function.
Shahs effusive praise of Modi caught many dignitaries present on the stage as also the Chief Minister by surprise. Shah went on to say that Modi is father of all orphans and even called him Narayan,eliciting applause from the audience.
It is to be noted that Girish Shah was Deputy Collector in Rajkot and in the year 2007. He was transferred to Dangs with promotion as Additional Collector-rank officer and was posted in Planning Department in 2007. Later,he was posted as District Development Officer of Dangs and after some time promoted as the District collector.
