Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar,Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and former chief minister Rabri Devi today filed their nominations for the Legislative Council elections which are scheduled to be held on April 26.
While the JD-U retained all its six members including ministers Bhim Singh and Narendra Singh,BJP dropped three of its four MLCs,including present Legislative Council chairman Tarakant Jha. Consequently, the party has been facing disgruntlement. Such displeasure is natural. After all, seats are limited and we cannot accommodate all, said Sushil Modi.
Rabri Devi has been lying low ever since she lost the Assembly elections from Raghopur and Sonepur both touted as the RJDs fortresses. Sonepur falls under Saran Lok Sabha segment which is represented by Lalu Prasad. There is speculation that Rabri may replace party colleague Gulam Gaus as Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council.
