Bharti Airtel chairman and managing director Sunil Mittal and Essar Group promoter Ravi Ruia appeared before the special CBI court hearing the 2G spectrum cases on Tuesday. The two businessmen submitted personal bonds before the court to ensure their presence on the next date of hearing as directed by the Supreme Court on Monday.
The two businessmen were summoned as accused in the case by the court of Special Judge OP Saini after the CBI filed a chargesheet naming Bharti Airtel,Hutchinson Max and Sterling Telecom now Vodafone as co-accused in the 2G allocation case.
Mittal and former Sterling director Ruia were summoned by the CBI court even though the CBI had not named any particular officials of the companies as accused.
Justice Saini accepted their bonds till the next date of hearing and posted the matter for further proceedings on April 22.
It is submitted that vide order of April 15,the Supreme Court has been pleased to adjourn the matter to April 22. Accordingly,the matter is adjourned till April 22. It is further submitted that accused Sunil Mittal and Ravi Ruia were also directed to furnish personal bonds. Accordingly,both have furnished personal bonds and it is accepted till the next date, the judge said and posted the matter for further hearing on April 22.
