An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped before being murdered in Barabankis Deva police circle on Monday night. Her body was found in a field at Sadsauli village early on Tuesday.
An FIR against unidentified persons on charges of rape and murder was lodged at the Deva police station by the girls father,who works at a brick kiln in Sadsauli village.
The autopsy has confirmed rape. She was smothered to death, said Inspector M M Khan. He said the body was found 500 metre from the brick kiln where her parents stayed. She was the only child of her parents.
Khan said the girl went to a fair,organised 1 km from the brick kiln,Monday evening. When she did not return home,her parents searched for her. Locals spotted her body in a field next day.
