Chief Minister Ashok Chavan on Monday told the Assembly that his government would call for details in the matter relating to Food and Civil Supplies Minister Abdul Sattars alleged assault on a Congress activist in Aurangabad a day ago.
The minister came in for heavy criticism in the Assembly after Leader of the Opposition Eknath Khadse raised the matter.
Reports from Aurangabad said Sattar had allegedly entered into a brawl with a ticket-aspirant for the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation polls,after a press conference. Sattar,the Congress MLA from Sillod,later said he was provoked by the man,identified as Mohammad Mushtak. Mushtak allegedly used abusive language against Sattar while demanding to know why he was ignored for a ticket.
