Militants strike in Sopore,none hurt

In a major strike,militants night attacked the Town Hall complex in north Kashmirs Sopore town.

In a major strike,militants on Sunday night attacked the Town Hall complex in north Kashmirs Sopore town,which houses several security installations,including the office and residence of the SP. No one was hurt in the attack that lasted several hours. Militants lobbed grenades and fired indiscriminately at the complex that houses the CRPFs battalion headquarters,SPs office and residence,a camp of Jamp;K Polices Special Operations Group SOG,and a BSNL telephone exchange.  Militants fired some grenades towards Town Hall Complex that was followed by firing, a police statement said. The fire was retaliated. Police said the militants fled after firing for a few minutes,but locals claimed the firing lasted several hours.

Police said they have launched a manhunt to nab the attackers. This is the third major encounter between militants and security forces in the town in less than a month.
