A three-member team of experts, sent by the Medical Council of India MCI to look into the ragging and death of 19-year-old Aman Satya Khachroo, has completed its exercise and is now evaluating the information collected during its visit to the medical college in Tanda.
We have interviewed around 50 students and faculty members. We will now try to co-relate their version of that fateful night, said one of the members.
According to the team, the interviews suggest that Kachroo became a victim of rash behaviour of some irresponsible students. We have learnt that the students arrested in the Kachroo case were involved is some earlier cases as well. We have asked for documents related those incidents too.
The experts said the watchman of the hostel was not present on the night Kachroo died. Why the watchman was present is yet to be ascertained, said one of the investigators.
The experts also observed that the college was not complying with most of the MCI anti-ragging guidelines, sent to it in February itself. The guidelines were meant to be implemented with immediate effect. The team is expected to send its report to the MCI by this weekend.
