March inflation seen ‘pretty high’

India’s March inflation will be “pretty high,” a top government adviser said on Monday.

Core inflation,excluding food and fuel prices,is around 5.5 per cent currently,Kaushik Basu,chief economic adviser in the finance ministry,told reporters.

Wholesale price index-based inflation data for March is scheduled for release on Thursday.

Basu was speaking at an event organised by the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
