A person has allegedly posed as actor Mehmoods late son Maqdoom Ali and sold his land in the city to a third party. Also, the sale deed is dated April 26,2011 almost nine years after Maqdoom Ali passed away.

The land was gifted to Ali by his elder brother and singer Lucky Ali (Maqsood Ali). Maqdoom Alis wife and son have now claimed the ownership.

Comedian Mehmood, who passed away in 2004,had six sons and a daughter. Lucky Ali,his second eldest son, gifted the land, survey no 588,new survey no 6 and hissa no 1 at village Autade near Undri in Pune district, measuring 10 gunthas,to younger brother Maqdoom. Maqdoom passed away on August 31,2002 following a heart attack.

The talathi of the village informed the attorney of Bilquees and Mezaan that the land was sold by Maqdoom himself to one Nayaz Pasha,28,of Bangalore when he approached him to get the names on the 7X12 extracts. What brought the scam to light was that the sale deed was made in 2011,while Ali had passed away in 2002. The documents,a copy of which is with The Indian Express, also show a forged signature that does not match Maqdooms signatures. The address on the documents is the same as his address in Yelahanka,Bangalore.

The photograph and the identity proof attached are both forged. This is a failure on part of the sub registrar office and we have filed a complaint against Pasha and the seller with the SP after the local police station refused to register the case. We have also approached Home Minister R R Patil, said Sajjad Ali S Shaikh, brother of Bilquees.

Pasha said,I came to know that I have been duped within a month. I am willing to cancel the deed and would want to meet the sub registrar. While the man who posed as Ali has been missing since the deed,Pasha did not reveal the name of the broker.

Alis family, however,is sore at the faulty procedure and the attitude of the police. I was called to Loni Kalbhor police station a few days ago,but they just took my statement without registering an FIR, Shaikh said.

Mehmoods daughter Gini Ali,speaking from Bangalore, said,I am aware of the developments. What is happening is really sad. What my brothers widowed wife is going through is hurting.

Inspector S P Patil said they did not register the case as the said village was not under their jurisdiction.
