A man in his late thirties was on Sunday found dead close to his burnt laptop at his residence in the southern part of the city,in a reminder of the death of an MNC worker in similar circumstances late last year.
The police said the body of 29-year-old Saptarshi Sarkar,a bachelor, was found in the locked bedroom of his home at Haridevpur in the southern part of the city.
Asphyxiation is suspected to be the cause of his death.
All the doors and windows of his bedroom were closed and it was full of smoke. A burnt laptop near his bed was found, the police said. The police suspected that his laptop probably caught fire while he was asleep from a cigarette he was smoking. His body has been sent for post-mortem.
Last November,34-year-old Sayan Chowdhury,an employee of a multinational company, had died in his sleep with his burnt laptop located near him. The post-mortem on Chowdhury had confirmed that his death was caused by inhalation of carbon monoxide while he was asleep in his locked room.
