The Maharashtra government will ask filmmaker Prakash Jha to screen his Aarakshan for protesting politicians and organisations, who fear it has an anti-reservation message, before it is released.
Home Minister R R Patil told the Assembly on Friday that though it was the right of the Censor Board to clear the film,it was everyones responsibility to ensure there was no social tension.
Patil said there has been opposition to the movie. Social peace is necessary and hence the filmmaker will be instructed to show it to the protesting organisations and legislators and get a no-objection certificate.
Earlier,NCPs Jitendra Awhad said the movie needed to be banned as it could create discord.
