The inclusion of Indore-based industrialist Sandeep Naolekar, who is the son of Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta P P Naolekar,in the state governments official delegation to China has come under attack from the opposition Congress.

The party alleged that there was a clear business interest involved because Naolekars unit supplies sewage pumps to state government departments under Housing and Environment, and Urban Development ministries.

Naolekar is not just a businessman but also the son of the current Lokayukta, who is expected to decide on complaints against ministers, including the chief minister, PCC Chief Kantilal Bhuria said and alleged that Sandeep did not even pay the fees meant for non-government delegates of the tour.

Naolekar said that he attended the tour in his capacity as chairman of the MP cell of Confederation of Indian Industries CII. The CII has an office in Beijing and coordinated the tour,he said.

I paid approximately Rs 1.5 lakh from my pocket and I can give you the cheque number, Naolekar told The Indian Express. He said his company had been supplying pumps to government departments for more than two decades, which predates the appointment of his father as the Lokayukta by many years. I dont use my fathers name to do business.

Naolekar did not visit Dalian, the first stop of the MP delegation, but attended the functions in Shanghai and Beijing. The delegation led by CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan returned to Bhopal on Thursday, when Congress raked up the issue.

Incidentally, the Special Police Establishment of the Lokayukta had last month submitted a closure report to a Special Court regarding a complaint against Chouhan in the dumper scam.

The Lokayukta and the judge had given a clean chit to Chouhan and his wife, holding that there was no misuse of his official position by the CM,who faced an allegation that soon after he assumed office, dumper trucks had been rented out to J P Associates as a quid pro quo for an out-of-turn allotment of a mining lease.
