Kyocera Mita India,a subsidiary of USD 12 billion Japanese Kyocera Group,on Tuesday announced the acquisition of the copier division of Kilburn Office Automation (KOAL) for an undisclosed amount.
“The acquisition of Kilburn is an important foundation to achieve Kyocera’s aim to become top group in India’s printers and multi-functional printers industry,” Kyocera Mita Asia President M Higuchi said in statement.
The acquisition is part of the firm’s plan to triple sales by March 2014 (FY-2013) in China,India,Korea and ASEAN countries. Among them,India’s role is essential to success,he said.
While Kyocera makes printers,KOAL has presence in various market segments including document management product solutions and other IT-enabled services.
Kyocera said the acquisition will enable it to provide state-of-the-art products and document solutions to Indian customers,corporate as well as in government,much faster.
“Kyocera Mita India has succeeded from Kilburn,a nationwide office equipment sales business,service centres and its customers. Through these,the sales and service coverage of Kyocera can almost extend to whole India,” the company added.
Post the acquisition,the company will be take on 108 employees of Kilburn and over 9,000 channel partners.
“The acquisition will give us a direct presence in 15 major cities. Kyocera Mita will be investing heavily both Channel expansion,dealer development and technical skill upgradation to enhance our customer satisfaction,” Kyocera Mita India Managing Director K Swetharanyan said.
