With the crisis in the state unit of the Congress persisting,Defence Minister A K Antony Friday said the issues can be sorted out in an amicable manner and indicated that the central leadership will intervene if the state leaders failed to find a solution.
As the groups led by state president Ramesh Chennithala and Chief Minister Oommen Chandy continued to fight over the formers entry into the Cabinet, the party leaders were looking for Antonys mediation.
Last week also, during his visit to the state capital,Antony had asked the leaders to find a formula in Kerala regarding Chennithalas Cabinet berth.
Addressing the media in Kannur, where he was attending a party programme,Antony said he was confident that his colleagues would find a solution for the problems. There had been incidents in which both Chandy and Chennithala had settled complex issues in a silent manner. Dont expect a flare-up in the party. Chandy and Chennithala had bickering in the past also. If my colleagues do not find a solution, there are other means for solving the issues, he said.
Chennithala was slated to attend the programme along with Antony, but cancelled his visit on health grounds.
Meanwhile,in Delhi,AICC general secretary Madhusudanan Mistry,in charge of Kerala affairs, warned of disciplinary action against those who indulge in public statements. He also said the problems in Kerala would be addressed.
