A Junior Commissioned Officer JCO of the Army was killed at a forward location in Poonch district as Pakistani troops,in yet another violation of the 2003 ceasefire between the two countries,resorted to unprovoked firing from across the Line of Control Friday afternoon.
Sources said Naib Subedar Bachan Singh was killed after being hit by shrapnel at Saujian in Mandi sector.
The unprovoked firing from across the LoC came around 1 pm with Pakistani troops using Pika guns,Rocket Propelled Guns and Universal Grenade Launchers. The Army retaliated and the exchange of fire between the two sides continued for nearly half an hour.
