Jagir gets bail in murder case after 7 months

Kaur,who is currently in Kapurthala jail,is a former president of the SGPC.

Seven months after she was convicted for her role in the murder of her pregnant daughter Harpreet Kaur,former Punjab minister Bibi Jagir Kaur was Thursday granted bail by the Punjab and Haryana High court on the condition that she will not leave India.

Kaur,who is currently in Kapurthala jail,is a former president of the SGPC.

Harpreet died under mysterious circumstances on April 20 and 21,2000,en route to Ludhianas Christian Medical College and Hospital. No postmortem was conducted and she was cremated at the Bibis Begowal village in Kapurthala on April 21. Soon after,Begowal resident Kamaljit Singh claimed he was her husband and father of her stillborn child. On April 27,2000,Kamaljit approached the high court. On June 9,2000,the HC ordered a CBI probe. WITH PTI INPUTS
