IT industry for a budget that helps in job-creation

The IT industry expects the Government to take steps conducive for IT industries in the Union Budget and make sure that more people get jobs in this sector.

The IT industry expects the Government to take steps conducive for IT industries in the Union Budget slated for February 26 and make sure that more people get jobs in this sector,a top industry official said.

8220;The Government should allocate funds for creating more jobs in industries IT industries,making sure that more people are benefited from the Budget,8221; Infosys8217; CEO and Managing Director,Kris Gopalakrishnan,told reporters at the Nasscom Summit here.

At a broad level,investment into job-creation and infrastructure and making sure that there is a time-table in the implementation of policies such as GST so that uncertainties are removed are important,he said.

The IT sector also expects the Government to rationalise the tax regime and extending the STP scheme to the medium-and-small-size entrepreneurs,he said.

At the industry-specific level,supporting medium-and-small-size enterprises by extending the STP scheme to them up to Rs 100-crore could be considered,he said.

The Government should also relook at some issues such as service tax refunds the industry gets.

8220;Why should there have to be a refund,why don8217;t they eliminate them completely8230;these are the simplifications the Government can make to help the industry,8221; he said.
