International schools protest quota rule

The issue will now be taken up as part of the PIL filed in Supreme Court by private schools challenging provisions of the Act.

After private and minority schools and the Navodayas,it is now the turn of international schools, most of which are affiliated to International Baccalaureate Organisation and Cambridge International Examination,to challenge applicability of certain provisions of RTE Act to them, like the 25 per cent quota for students from disadvantaged sections.

While several of these schools have made a representation to the HRD Ministry, one school in Pune is said to have moved court. They have argued that since they are not affiliated to Indian boards,RTE provisions should not apply to them.
