Indian National Lok Dal chief Om Prakash Chautala seems to have taken a leaf out of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hoodas book in making extravagant promises in the partys election manifesto unveiled on Wednesday. In a blatant imitation of Hoodas policy of wooing all sections of society with financial incentives, the INLD seems to be trying hard to gain the foothold it probably lost after the recent break-up of its alliance with the BJP.
The promise of a scooty for female students after they graduate and Rs 3000 for unemployed graduates reveals their eagerness to get the youth on board. We have always been for the youth. They got their best when we were in power and will get the best when we will be back in power, said Ajay Singh Chautala,INLD secretary general.
As a matter of fact, the party that otherwise focuses mainly on lambasting the Hooda Government, has changed tack to winning peoples cooperation by schemes aimed at their financial welfare. The party strategists admitted that mere criticism would not translate into solid votes. The results of the Lok Sabha elections are evident to prove that the Hooda strategy to win over people of the state with incentives has borne fruit and to counter the same it was necessary to give better than what is already offered to them, said a senior party leader involved in chalking out the strategy.
