Indias stand vindicated by Zardaris confession

A day after Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari made the startling confession on "creating and nurturing" terrorists,India said its stand has been "vindicated".

New Delhi said it is for Pakistan to 8220;expose8221; and 8220;take action8221; against the 8220;conspiracies and conspirators8221; responsible for terrorist attacks originating out of its soil against India.

External Affairs Minister S M Krishna told Parliament on Thursday,8221;As regards Pakistan,we have some sort of confession from the highest authority in Pakistan8230;To that extent,India8217;s stand has been vindicated. All along India has maintained that Pakistani soil is being used to launch attacks on Indian territories8230; I hope,hereafter,Pakistan will make a determined bid to curb terrorism8230; Otherwise,it might itself become a victim of those very forces which have found support from the Pakistani state. The terror infrastructure in Pakistan has to be dismantled.8221;

Making a suo motu statement in both Houses,Krishna said,8221;It is the responsibility of the Government of Pakistan to take all such steps as are necessary to address this issue and expose and take action against the conspiracies and conspirators responsible for such attacks. Unfortunately,terrorists in Pakistan continue attacks against India.8221;

Recalling PM8217;s remarks,he said India recognises the 8220;importance and salience8221; of a continued dialogue with Pakistan,but the dialogue addressing mutual concerns is premised on an atmosphere free of the threat of violence.

Earlier in the day,while briefing about the NAM summit in Egypt MEA8217;s Special Secretary international organisations Vivek Katju said there will be a meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Pakistan counterpart Yousaf Raza Gilani on the sidelines of the summit at Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt. However,he refused to divulge the dates of the meeting,nor did he divulge the date of meetings between the foreign secretaries of the two countries.

Later,Krishna told Parliament that the foreign secretaries of India and Pakistan will discuss what Pakistan is doing and can do to prevent terrorism from Pakistan against India and to bring to justice those responsible for terror attacks.
