BJP Legislature Party leader in Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje failed to meet party leader M Venkaiah Naidu here on Monday to resolve the stalemate in the partys Rajasthan unit.

Raje was to meet Naidu to work out the modalities for her resignation from the position of the state legislature party. The former Rajasthan chief minister, who came to Delhi on Monday, said she had taken ill,a reason why she failed to show up for the meeting. She instead sent her son Dushyant Singh to meet Naidu.

Raje, whose resignation from the position of the BJP Legislature Party is imminent, wants the central leadership to ensure that her successor in the state is not imposed by the central BJP,and is elected by party legislators. She also wants the suspension of two of her supporter MLAs who had been suspended by the party brass for supporting her to be revoked. The party brass had earlier also assured Raje of a key organisational responsibility in the central BJP.

Former Rajasthan BJP chief Om Mathur, acting as interlocutor between Raje and party president Rajnath Singh, meanwhile, held talks with Naidu to resolve the crisis. He is expected to meet Naidu and Raje on Tuesday.

Senior BJP leader Pyarelal Khandelwal, meanwhile, has written a letter to BJP president Rajnath Singh demanding that Jaswants expulsion from the party be revoked.
