HC admits defamation suit against Buddhadeb

Admitting the suit,Justice I P Mukerji directed Roys counsels to serve notice to Bhattacharjee.

The Calcutta High Court Wednesday admitted a civil defamation suit filed by TMC general secretary Mukul Roy against former West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee for his alleged derogatory comments against Mamata Banerjee. Admitting the suit,Justice I P Mukerji directed Roys counsels to serve notice to Bhattacharjee. The matter would come up for hearing after four weeks. Counsel Rajdeep Majumdar submitted that Bhattacharjee be restrained from making such derogatory comments. Roy claimed in his petition that Bhattacharjee had made derogatory comments with regard to Banerjees honesty during a televised interview.
