Trifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and granting statehood to Rayalaseema is the only durable solution,Union Minister for Tribal Affairs and senior Congress leader from Andhra Pradesh V Kishore Chandra Deo said Friday,a day before the high-powered GoM on Telangana is scheduled to meet.
Now that the decision has been taken to create a separate state of Telangana,the only solution to the turmoil is to grant separate statehood to Rayalaseema too. If this does not happen,there could be fierce and violent complications in the future, Deo told The Indian Express. The division should be durable and should not victimise any region or part of the state. Rayalaseema has eight MPs and also has resources,it can certainly be a separate state.
Deo said political resignations were no solution to the issue. This is no way to solve a problem in a democratic set-up. There is need for discussion and dialogue, he said.
He also said: It is important the Centre endorse a capital and Vishakhapatnam is the natural capital today. Earlier,Deo had demanded several measures for the development of Vishakhapatnam in Andhra region and added that facilities should be spread across.
Deo said the Centre must give assurance to people from the Andhra region working and studying in Hyderabad that they will be safe. Some statements by the TRS have created apprehension and insecurity and I would urge the central government to allay peoples fears, he said.
