Google remains Firefox8217;s default search engine

Nonprofit organisation Mozilla has renewed its internet search deal with Google for three years.

Mozilla has said that it has renewed a deal making Google the default search engine in the nonprofit organization8217;s open-source Firefox Web browsing software.

8220;We8217;re pleased to announce that we have negotiated a significant and mutually beneficial revenue agreement with Google,8221; said Mozilla chief executive Gary Kovacs said in a release yesterday.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. The agreement extends for three years Google8217;s status as fallback engine for Internet searches made by hundreds of millions of Firefox users worldwide,according to Kovacs. 8220;Mozilla has been a valuable partner to Google over the years and we look forward to continuing this great partnership in the years to come,8221; Google senior vice president of search Alan Eustace said in a release.

California-based Mozilla reported in October that royalties from nearby Google make up a large chunk of its revenue.
