Family Affair

Neetu recalled the family has been bringing Ganapati home ever since they moved into the bungalow 19 years ago.

Like several Bollywood celebs,Rishi and Neetu Kapoor too got home their little Ganpati. Krishna Raj,their bungalow, was decorated with flowers and diyas right from the entrance of the house. The lord sat in all his splendour on an elegantly-decorated table. Neetu recalled the family has been bringing Ganapati home ever since they moved into the bungalow 19 years ago. “Initially it was for a day and a half. Rishi and I are hoping that next year onwards we keep the Lord for 10 or more days,” gushed Neetu,as she watched the pandit decorate the idol with flowers. It was the fifth and last day and there was a sadness in her voice as she had to bid farewell to the elephant God. But what kept her spirits up was that her son,Ranbir, was just back from a long shooting schedule at Prague. Truly a doting mother!

Being protective

Ranbir Kapoor has confessed that he never liked watching his mom Neetu Singh’s films when he was a kid as he felt protective of his mother.

“As a kid,I used to feel bad watching my mom on-screen. I would feel that since she is my mother,no one should be judging her. I felt very protective of her and still do,” said Ranbir.

It may be recalled that Neetu Singh gained fame as a child artiste and subsequently became a leading lady in films. She retired from the silver-screen at the age of 21 after marrying Rishi Kapoor.

However, now that she is making a comeback with her husband in Do Dooni Chaar, the famous son is all-excited about watching his parents together once again. “Since I never could enjoy her films as a child,I am thrilled that she is making a comeback and I will get to watch my parents together on screen,” beamed Ranbir.

Priyanka hates cooking

With an opening rating of 5.5 TVR,Fear Factor Khatron Ke Khiladi hosted by Priyanka Chopra has beaten the last two seasons hosted by Akshay Kumar. The actress is naturally on cloud nine.

All talk about her lack of chemistry with the boys on the show or comparisions with her predecessor has been effectively put to rest. So,what next,Priyanka? With Akshay hosting a cookery show, will we see her taking on one too? “I hate cooking,” retorts the pretty actress.

Matching steps

Everyone remembers how Amitabh Bachchan tried to woo Kimi Katkar in the song Jumma chumma de de from the 1991 release Hum.

Years later,Katrina Kaif will be seen dancing to the iconic song in director-choreographer Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan. The song which, according to the director, will be the highlight of the film,is a kind of tribute to the earlier version.

Katrina has worked harder on her body for the song ever since she was told by Farah that she had to expose her stomach, provocatively, right down to the hip line. “I knew that I had to have the best body in the business,” said the actress who plays an “item” girl in the film also starring Akshay Kumar. Tees Maar Khan hits the screens this December.

Back to Lakhan

Post-Slumdog Millionaire,Anil Kapoor might have been basking in international recognition, but who can forget that it’s his One two ka four street-dance steps in Ram Lakhan that had the young hearts beating wildly?

For one,Farah Khan not just remembers it,but also wants to cash in on it — literally. She made him do the street-dance steps from the 1989 movie for Tees Maar Khan.

“It is sacrilege to rope him in for a cameo and not make him to do that famous dance step,” she reasons. This one step in a different sense sure confirms loads of hoots when the film releases.

Soap trick

Brand endorsements are a convenient way for Bollywood stars to rake in the moolah and stay in the public glare. Kareena Kapoor has done it. So has Genelia D’Souza and many others.

Now,Asin is on her way to becoming the queen of endorsements. The Ghajini lady, who has made people wonder if she was just another splash in the B-Town pan,has been endorsing a series of products, including a soft drink and an anti-perspirant and fairness cream.

Soon, she will add Lux soap to the list. While the ad will soon go on air,one wonders when will Asin be seen next on the big screen.

Togetherness

Slumdog Millionaire stars Freida Pinto and Dev Patel looked every inch the much-in-love couple as they walked the red carpet at the Toronto Film Festival hand in hand.

The duo was attending the premiere of Woody Allen’s You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger wherein Freida stars alongside Hollywood A-listers like Naomi Watts,Antonio Banderas and Anthony Hopkins.

Dressed in a black layered dress by Alexander McQueen, the 26-year-old posed with Dev,whom she had met on the sets of Slumdog Millionaire. The couple had recently denied reports of an engagement. After making their debut in the Mumbai-based potboiler, both Freida and Dev have gone on to become international stars.
