The Bihar Police have intensified security for the Dalai Lama, who has been attending the ongoing Kalachakra puja at Bodhgaya. The decision was taken after two lamas from Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh, armed with fake passes, unsuccessfully tried to get close to the Tibetan spiritual leader on Saturday.
The two lamas were immediately detained and later released on furnishing a personal bond. They have been asked not to leave Bodhgaya till on January 10,when the Kalachakra puja concludes.
The two had allegedly scanned the passes of two other lamas and affixed their photographs on them. Security deployed at the venue gates generally matches the numbers on the passes to allow visitors inside.
Gaya SP Satyavir Singh said special passes were issued for lamas who sat near the Dalai Lama. We are also looking for the two persons whose original passes were scanned. We want to know if those passes were stolen, misplaced or deliberately given to the two lamas.
Intelligence reports said six Chinese men of Tibetan origin had sneaked into India and possibly to Bodhgaya to keep a tab on the speech of the Dalai Lama at the biggest congregation of Tibetans.
