Ex-IAF,Naval Board officers under scanner

The agency also carried out searches at the residences and officers of former Air Force and Naval Board officials.

The Central Bureau of Investigation CBI has named former Air Vice Marshal of Indian Air Force IAF and other senior officials of Naval Housing Board in connection with an alleged scam worth Rs 28 crore for building 300 farm houses for serving and retired officers. The agency which registered a case in connection with the officials of the Air Force Naval Housing Board AFNHB also named a private company for allegedly fraudulent land deal in Haryana and UP.

The agency also carried out searches at the residences and officers of former Air Force and Naval Board officials. Those who were raided include Air Vice Marshal retd K K Sangar,the then Director General of the Board,Commander retd P C Yadav,the then Deputy Director General of the Board,Wing Commander retd V P Tandon,Director Works of the Board and Commander retd Dariyao Singh,who is also the owner of Shree Ganesh Estate and Constructions.

The CBI case dates back to 1996 when the Naval Board and Air Force had finalised a land in Haryana and UP. In a statement,CBI said director general of AFNHB and the then Director Works AFHNB during 1996 selected the New Delhi-based Estate and Construction Private Company for the purchase of land situated in Kabulpur village in Haryana and Motiput in Uttar Pradesh for development and construction of 300 dwelling farm units at project site called Y without verification of the title and physical location of the land.

The CBI alleged that the officers showed undue favours to the private body resulting in undue loss of Rs 28 crore to the board and corresponding gain to themselves.After the registration of the case,the searches at the premises of the then officials concerned of AFHNB and the private parties were conducted which resulted in the recovery of several incriminating documents, the spokesperson said. The case against the former Air Vice Marshall and other has been registered under various section of prevention of corruption Act and IPC.

This is second case in past one month in which senior officials of Indian forces have been allegedly found to have indulged in land scams.
