A man has been booked in connection with the alleged suicide of her daughter after gangrape in Moradabad. Harpal Singh, son of former BSP MLA Balram Singh Saini,is accused of driving his daughter to take the extreme step by beating her over her relationship with a boy and bunking school.

In his complaint to the police,Harpal Singh had told the police that his daughter committed suicide after gangrape at a house where she had gone along with another minor girl.

Singh has been booked under section 306 of the IPC abetment to suicide. After we named him as an accused,he moved court and filed a surrender application, but did not turn up in the court on the stipulated day, said senior sub-inspector Satpal Singh who is investigating the case.

Saini said his son filed the surrender application when the police started harassing him. The police are harassing our family as we are members of the Bahujan Samaj Party, he alleged.

On May 31,the body of the girl, who was a student of Class IX,was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her house. The family alleged she did so after being gangraped by three unidentified persons at a house in Manpur locality in Moradabad where she was taken by her friend.

The police arrested the girls friend and produced her before the court which sent her to Womens Protection Home. She was granted bail two days later.

The police, however, are yet to find any evidence in support of the former MLA and his sons story.
