Tightening the noose around Balkrishna,a close aide of Baba Ramdev, the Enforcement Directorate ED Thursday issued a notice under the Foreign Exchange Management Act FEMA for Rs 4 crore against Jharkhand Mega Foods Pvt Ltd,of which Balkrishna is a director.
The Enforcement Directorate has alleged that Jharkhand Mega Foods transferred money in violation of FEMA and RBI guidelines. The firm has been directed to reply to the notice within 45 days. The ED said they will question Balkrishna and seek bank account details and balance sheets of the firm.
The notice comes shortly after the Enforcement Directorate filed a money laundering case against Balkrishna, which in turn is based on the CBI chargesheet against Balkrishna in a cheating and forgery case.
The ED believes Balkrishna used a passport obtained with the help of forged documents to park money outside India. The ED is empowered to attach properties bought or built with ill-gotten wealth.
The CBI had registered a case of cheating and criminal conspiracy against Balkrishna on July 23 last year for allegedly using forged school certificates to obtain a passport.
