PM unable to read writing on wall: Nitish
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar mounted attack on the UPA government,terming the PMs speech in Parliament on the Anna episode on Wednesday quite disappointing. In the first place,the PM had gone silent. He today broke his silence on Anna but his speech in both Houses of Parliament was unconvincing and disappointing. Perhaps,PM is not able to read writings on the wall, Nitish said. He said the people of the country had woken up against corruption. The Centre should know that the more they will try to crush a democratic movement,the more it will grow. People cannot keep the repression lying down. Patnas Kargil Chowk remained the hub of protest on the second day with doctors,lawyers and students adding their strength to the protest.

PM should apologise or quit,says BSY
Former Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Thursday demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for the UPA government8217;s failure to understand the mood of the country on the Jan Lokpal Bill. Yeddyurappa,who is facing a slew of corruption cases before a special Karnataka Lokayukta court,said the Prime Minister should apologise for preventing Anna Hazare from staging a peaceful protest or otherwise quit office. The UPA government has failed to understand the sentiments of people on the Jan Lokpal Bill. It is time for a bill to eradicate corruption in the country. If the government cannot enact a new law it must step down, he said. Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda also echoed similar views and demanded that the Prime Minister must step down if the UPA government cannot introduce the new law as sought by activists like Anna Hazare.

House adjourned,lawyers join protest
The protest against the crackdown on activist Anna Hazare and his aides had its echo in Orissa for the second day as BJP and ruling BJD MLAs condemned the action on the first day of the monsoon session of Orissa Assembly while lawyers in Orissa High Court and other district courts boycotted proceedings wearing black badges. As the question hour began on the opening day of the monsoon session,BJP legislature party leader K V Singhdeo and party members started shouting slogans against the UPA government,calling Hazares arrest murder of democracy. As BJP legislators stormed into the well of the House demanding tabling of a strong Jan lokpal bill in Parliament,the Speaker had to adjourn the House. When the House reassembled,ruling BJD MLAs started sloganeering against the Centre,leading to adjournment of the House till 3 pm.

Lawyers plea dismissed,protests continue
The Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court on Wednesday refused to entertain the lawyers who wanted to abstain from the court proceedings to protest the arrest of Anna Hazare. Division bench headed by Chief Justice S J Mukhopadhaya asked the president of Gujarat High Court Advocates Association Yatin Oza not to bring politics to the court when Oza tried to make a representation on the issue. Elsewhere in the state,students and people from all walks of life continued their protest against the UPA government at the Centre and expressed support for Annas cause.
