Charging some of the Election Commission EC officials of colluding with the ruling party ahead of the Assembly byelection in Pudukottai, the DMK has decided to boycott the polls.
On Thursday, party president and former CM M Karunanidhi alleged that the Opposition parties wont get justice in the poll, forcing his party to stay away from it.
Karunanidhi pointed out that the AIADMK government had announced Rs 50 crore development support to the constituency just two days before the poll fixture was announced, and claimed that this revealed the collusion between some in the EC and the AIADMK.
With the CPI whose sitting member died in an accident bringing about the polls and PMK already announcing their decision to stay away, observers are waiting to see what decision AIADMKs ally-turned-opponent DMDK would take.
AIADMK trounced the opposition in the last two bypolls since taking power.
