Dey murder: Man held for supplying weapon

The Uttarakhand Police arrested an aide of fugitive gangster Chhota Rajan in Nainital for his alleged role in the June 11 murder of investigative journalist J Dey.

The Uttarakhand Police on Tuesday arrested an aide of fugitive gangster Chhota Rajan in Nainital for his alleged role in the June 11 murder of investigative journalist J Dey. According to the police,Deepak Sisodiya 26,a resident of Nainital,had supplied the murder weapon to two men already arrested in the case.

Sisodiya supplies arms to the Rajan gang. Based on information we had passed on,the Uttarakhand Police arrested him on Tuesday in Nainital for his role in the Dey murder case. He has admitted to supplying the murder weapon and live rounds to arrested accused Satish Kalia and Arun Dake in Nainital, said Joint Commissioner of Police Crime Himanshu Roy.

The police have already seized a 0.32 US made revolver,20 live Czech rounds and five empty cartridges

Sisodiya does not have a criminal record in Mumbai,but may have cases against him in Uttarakhand. The weapon might have been sourced from Nepal. Rajan has a network in Nepal, said Roy.

Meanwhile,a Deputy Commissioner of Police rank officer has recorded the confession of Dake under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act MCOCA.

Sisodiya is the ninth arrest in the case. The eight men arrested earlier by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch were booked under MCOCA on July 8. On June 26,the police had arrested seven men who executed the murder. Subsequently,on July 3,the Crime Branch arrested Vinod Asrani alias Vinod Chembur,a bookie and close aide of Rajan,for allegedly helping identify Dey to the other accused.
