Desperate to survive the upcoming bypolls,Telangana Rashtra Samiti TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao Monday made a bid to win voters to his side by warning of a great war if the Srikrishna Committee fails to recommend creation of Telangana state.
After a meeting to discuss the by-elections to 10 Assembly seats that it had resigned to press for a Telangana state,Rao told leaders of the partys youth wing, who were at the forefront of violent pro-Telangana agitations at Osmania University,to prepare for war.
We must keep our weapons ready. A great war is inevitable after December when the Committee submits its report, he said. We will enroll 10 lakh students and supporters. All of them will be out on streets if Telangana is denied to us. We will not allow the government to function. What will the Centre do then? Transport will come to a halt, government servants from Telangana wont do duty which means even district collectors and police wont be able to move. We will create such pressure that the government will have to bow and accede to our demand.
Party sources said Rao is nervous that TRS may not retain all 10 seats in the bypolls.
