A controversial mangrove park promoted by a CPM backed society in Kannur was closed down on Monday after the intervention of the Union Ministry of Environment.
The ministry found the eco-tourism project on the banks of a river,promoted by Pappinissery Eco-Tourism Society,had violated the Coastal Regulation Zone norms and wreaked havoc on the regions fragile mangrove patches.
