CPM opposes Modi visit to Kerala mutt

After the Congress found fault with Labour Minister Shibu Baby John visiting Gujarat CM Narendra Modi,now it is the turn of the CPM to protest the BJP leaders proposed visit to Sivagiri Mutt here. Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the golden jubilee celebrations of the mutt run by Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust,established by social reformer Sri Narayana Guru.

Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan has turned down the invitation to attend another function at the mutt on April 25,a day after Modis slated visit. His Modi actions are against the teachings of Sri Narayana Guru, he said. CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan said,Inviting Modi to the mutt runs against the philosophy of Sri Narayana Guru. CPM cannot accept the action of the mutt. By inviting Modi,the authorities have converted the mutt into a Hindu ashram, he said.

However,mutt general secretary,Swami Rithambharanada,said the mutt was open to all. We have invited Modi as part of our plan to bring in a national level leader for the event8230;We had invited Sonia and Rahul Gandhi,along with Modi. But,only Modi has accepted the invitation, he said.
