Contractor gets bail in Essar case

A Dantewada court on Saturday granted bail to contractor B K Lala,who was arrested while allegedly handing over Rs 15 lakh to suspected Naxal Lingaram Kodapi on behalf of Essar in September.

The order came two days after the High Court slammed the prosecutor for not performing his duty and quashed the order of Dantwada Sessions Judge who had rejected the Lalas bail application.

After Essar GM DVCS Verma,Lala is the second accused in the case to get bail.

Lala,who was charged under IPC and Prevention of Unlawful Activities Act,had applied for bail saying police had failed to file the chargesheet within the stipulated 90 days. Rejecting his plea,the Sessions judge had extended the time limit to 180 days.
