With Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections due next year,Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav has told his party to prepare to go it alone and not count on Congress support in forming the government.

Addressing the partys state executive meeting on Monday,he said: Let there be no confusion that the Congress will extend its support to us if we are short of numbers in forming the government. The Congress will adopt a neutral stance in that situation. The Congress was never with us and it will never support us in future,so take the plunge for forming the government on our own strength.

Stating that the misgovernance and rampant corruption by the BSP regime has given the party a historic opportunity,he said the SP may never get this chance again.

He further asked his party to learn a lesson from the spirited struggle waged by Mamata Banarjee for over a decade,single-handedly building the party organisation to capture power.
